Hey Enviropreneurs!
How are y’all doing?!
It’s been a while, since you heard from me. This time it’s going to be better than ever!!!
Our Enviropreneur for this month is Plogga Mayokun Iyaomolere and we’ll be discussing how Plogging Nigeria is making swift moves in the environment.
Founder of Plogging Nigeria
Mayokun IYAOMOLERE hails from Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria.
He bagged an MSc in Environmental Control and Management from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, where he is currently running a PhD in same discipline.
He is an ardent greenie and sustainable development promoter. He founded the Plogging Nigeria Club on June 2, 2018. Plogging is a combination of jogging plus picking litters for body fitness and environmental cleanliness. The club as an organisation with over 1, 500 volunteers is currently present in 20 higher institutions across Nigeria with a community club in Ajah, Lagos.

Under his leadership, the club has organised more than 200 plogging episodes covering 370km space in various communities and campuses, collecting over 8,500 bags of litters and recovered over 90,000 PET bottles from the environment.
The club also runs a Green Switch Academy and has directly trained and engaged, via virtual bimonthly workshops 676 young people on the subject of environmental sustainability, understanding climate change and how to take action for the environment.
Amongst other honours, Plogging Nigeria Club was recognised as one of top 10 Global Recycling Heroes by the Global Recycling Foundation in 2020.
Mayokun is an unrepentant dendrophile who passionately and professionally leads actions for “an environmental-sustainability conscious world, with intentional actions driven towards its fulfilment by individuals and institutions.”
